Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights can be used to seize Counterfeit goods at the border and have them destroyed. Intellectual Property can be registered with the United States Customs Service, and placed on the Customs Watch List. Customs agents will routinely check trademarked goods against the trademarks registered with Customs, without being “tipped off” that counterfeit goods were anticipated. Patented and Copyrighted goods require somewhat greater efforts in coordinating private efforts with a Customs Registration.
